Abandoned Toys!!

Abandoned Toys makes some of the most beautiful new age music that I have come across lately. If you like the genre, you should really look into their album, "The witch's garden".

Jarre Stuff on Ebay
Apologies for off topic post, but given that I listen to Mike much more than Jean for many years, perhaps someone else would be interested in this: I've just put my collection of memorabilia up for sale on Ebay

Just finished the Biography, and very very much enjoyed it. Good insights into the man behind the music.

In fact, I'd like to write to him - he mentioned he's now back in the Cotswolds, about 1/2 hr drive from Chalfont St Giles; anyone know which town?

Yeah, I know he probably won't write back - but his music has been much of the soundtrack to my life, when I was introduced to Incantations when I was 6.

Walk up Hergest Ridge?
Just curious. Are there any folk reasonably near who'd be interested in a walk up Hergest Ridge sometime, have a pint and a chat about the music, the places, and maybe visit some of the ancient monuments nearby? I'm in Cheshire, and it'd be about 2 hours drive for me.

Hi there!

I'm brand new to this community and I am so happy i've found it! I've been a massive fan of Mike's for 18 years. My parents had all his albums and i practically grew up on his music! There is just something about Mikes compositions that touches me more than any other artist, just one night listening to Ommadawn is enough for me!

Anywho to celebrate me finding this community i decided to post up a colourbar i created not that long ago. All i request is that you use the image please upload to your own server, thanks!:

Hey guys, I found this infant community via seeing indigofae at progrock, and didn't hesitate to join and see if we can't get it off the ground :) I'm a 24 year old Scotsman, and Oldfield was my first musical love from a young age. Today my sensibility has evolved but I can only appreciate Oldfield even more, and I consider him not merely an icon, or a trailblazer, but a true genius of our time (leaving aside a few of those dubious 80s/90s albums!) I'm a musician myself because of Oldfield's influence and have been said to share a tiny bit of his style, if not an ounce of his talent :p

I look forward to talking about this man's work throughout the years. I have recently bought the Elements DVD, which was a real treat for fans, totally unexpected and full of rare videos... and the entirety of Tubular Bells (Part One) performed live!! This could be a good place to start, anyone else picked the DVD up?
